Obituary:
MRS. HALLIE BROCK DIES AT HER HOME IN BOGART
Saturday Evening, 30 Jan 1960
Mrs. Hallie Brock passed away at her home in Bogard at 6:30 pm Saturday evening. She had been in failing health for a number of years.
The daughter of P.H. & Joan Glaze O'Neal, she was born on November 10, 1877 in Carroll County, and had moved to Bogard in 1952 from a farm west of Bogard.

In November of 1901, she was married to Cloud Brock who preceded her in death on March 9, 1958. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Helen Stouffer of Arkansas City, Kansas; Irvin Brock of Carrollton, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Arthur and Herbert O'Neal of California, and Oscar O'Neal of Garden City, Kansas and three sisters, Mrs. Mable Johnson of California, Miss Lillian of Carrollton and Mrs. Roy Canaday of Neosho, Missouri. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of the Austin Methodist Church.
Funeral services in her memory will be held on Tuesday afternoon from the Dickerson Funeral Home in Bogard, conducted by the Rev. E C. Vanderpool. Interment will follow at Ebenezer cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the hours of the services.

Married Feb. 26 R John Knox Chapel in Lee's Summit were Amy Lynn Hinken of Independence and Stormy Ray O'Neal of Blue Springs.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hinken of Independence. The groom is the son of Dee A. Crown of Blue Springs and Jimmy R. O'Neal of Bogard, Mo.
Honor attendants were Jessica Hobbs and Todd Coyazo, both of Blue Springs.
A reception at the Lake Tapawingo clubhouse in Jackson County honored the newlyweds, who live in Blue Springs.

Obituary:
Lowell Alvin O'Neal, 79, died Thursday, 3 Nov, 1988, at his rural home RFD 4, Carrollton.
Mr. O'Neal was born March 24 1909, on a farm three miles west of Bogard, the son of Lewis and Jannie Wagaman O'Neal.
He attended Maple Grove rural school and Bogard High School. In 1927 he migrated to southwest Kansas where he engaged in wheat farming with his father's twin brother, Luther. This was in Meade County, southwest of Dodge City and he became an amateur and professional boxer, a sport he followed for five years.
He was married to Ruth Bertha Louise Mueller on Nov. 22 1931, in Meade, Kan. In later years, the couple settled at their farm home nine miles east of Carrollton, where they followed the occupation of livestock and crop farming. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed wildlife, and made his farm available to the Boy Scout Troop 192 of Independence, MO. He accompanied this troop on many canoe trips.
Mr. O'Neal was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Carrollton.
Survivors include his wife of the home; nine sons, Eugene Gerald O'Neal, Tacoma, Wash; Jerry Herman O'Neal, Carrollton; Teddy Dean O'Neal Buckner; Sammy Kay O'Neal, Blue Springs; Billie Joe O'Neal, Bogard; Tommy Lee O'Neal, Carrollton; Jimmy Ray O'Neal, Bogard; Rickey Lynn O'Neal, Niceville Fla; and Bobby Dale O'Neal Carrollton; five daughters, Mrs. Marcella Mae Frederick, Lompoc, Ca.; Mrs. Jeanett Melva Whitney, Overland Park, Ks.; Mrs. Donna Mazine Lee Harrison, Ark.; Mrs. Carol Louise Suddith, Dawn; and Mrs. Patsy Lorraine Shields, Carrollton; two brothers, Leonard O'Neal, Tingley, IA.; and Delmar O'Neal, Bogard; 42 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 pm Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton, with the Rev. George Rattelmuller officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Saturday at the Gibson-Rice Chapel in Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Fund in memory of Mr. O'Neal.

Obituary:
DEATH OF MRS P. H. O'NEAL
Well Known Bogard Lady Passed Away Friday Evening -- Funeral Sunday Morning
Mrs. P. H. O'Neal, age 62, a sister of C. N. Canaday of this city, died at her home in Bogard, Friday evening at 6:40 o'clock, following a year's illness with a complication of diseases.
MRS. P. H. ONEAL
Phoebe Emeline Canaday, daughter of John C. and Mary Ann Canaday, was born Jan. 15, 1865, in Henry County, Indiana. She died February 25, 1927 at her home in Bogard. She came with her parents to Carroll county in 1869. She was united in marriage to P.H. Oneal in March, 1887, and lived on a farm in Leslie township until after the death of her husband about six years ago, when she moved to Bogard to make her home. To this union was born nine children, the oldest having died in infancy. The other children are Arthur, Oscar, Herbert and Gilbert and Mrs. Mabel Johnson of Kansas and Elmer and Lillian and Mrs. Willie Canaday of Bogard, also three step children are living: Luther of Kansas, Lewis and Mrs. Hallie Brock of Bogard. She had thirteen grandchildren. Besides these she leaves three brothers, Frank and Perry of San Antonia, Texas, and Charles of Carrollton, together with a number of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. In early life she was converted and united with the Methodist church in Bogard.
Funeral services in her memory were here at the Methodist church at Bogard, Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by the pastor Rev. Bate, in the presence of a large gathering of her relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Elmer C. O'Neal Dies At a Jefferson City Hospital Sat. Morning
Elmer C. O'Neal passed away Saturday morning in Jefferson City, Missouri where he had been a patient for about 13 days. He had been ill the past two years and had previously been a patient at the St. Mary's hospital one year ago.
The son of Philander and Emma Canaday O'Neal, he was born on May 1, 1892 in Bogard. He lived his entire life in the Carrollton and Bogard area and followed the occupation of farming.
On December 24, 1914, he was united in marriage with Emma Bunney. To this union three children were born, two of whom along with the wife survive. They are: Mrs. Walter H. Weil of Oakland, California and Miss Neva D. O'Neal of Fairbanks, Alaska. One son, Nelson, preceded him in death in 1947.
Other survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Cloud Brock, Bogard; Mrs. Mable Johnson, Palo Alto, California; Miss Lillian O'Neal, Carrollton; and Mrs. Roy Canaday, Neosho; and three brothers, Arthur O'Neal, Campbell, California; Herbert O'Neal, Palo Alto, California, and Oscar O'Neal, Satanta, Kansas. Three brothers and one sister proceeded him in death.
The body was removed to the Austin Funeral Home in Tina on Saturday and on Sunday evening was taken to the family home north of Carrollton. Funeral services in memory of Mr. O'Neal will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Van Horn Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Walter Hillis, pastor of the Bogard Methodist Church, assisted by Charles Millner. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton.

O'Neal, Gilbert P. -- funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 am in the chapel of H. R. Borgadorf Mortuary at Arvin for Gilbert P. O'Neal, 66, who died suddenly Friday while at work as a carpenter in the Arvin area. He was born at Carleton, Mo, Jan. 20, 1897, and had resided in Arvin the past seven years. He made his home with his family at 464 Franklin Ave, Arvin. He is survived by his widow, Edith; a daughter, JoAnne; a son, Gary P. O'Neal; 13 brothers and sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mound School 10-23-1913
Few people remember or ever knew that the Mound School ever existed, nor where it was located. It stood about 1/2 mile south and 1/2 mile west of Bogard Mound, just west of Bogard. It was located in the southeast corner of a pear and apple orchard owned by Dr. Charley Cannady. It was closed in about 1915 or 1916 when the new Bogard school opened.
